Making art is one of the most important endeavors humans can pursue, says Kip Fulbeck, "and for many artists, myself included, making art isn't a choice. It's just something you have to do." Fulbeck whose artistic talents include performance art, making videos, fiction writing, painting, and music says that as an artist he wants people "to recognize the depths of personal experience in my work, and afterwards to maybe find some small parallel, or clarity, in their lives." What he wants to see in his students is "breakthroughs finding their feet, grasping a new skill or confidence, taking risks." Fulbeck says he loves both teaching and creating art. "I like the constant vigor of student interaction, and the freedom to work roughly at my own schedule." And, he adds, "I never want to lose touch with what it is like to be a student."
